Akira Mamushi, also known as Crow Tengu, is a pro hero working in the Hero Agency 'The Menagerie', being the receptionist. Due to what his family believed in, he was forced ever since childhood to dress in Japanese styled female outfits, like kimonos and even long hair and makeup. He is later revealed to be part of 'The Yokai Council', a Council that oversees all bearers of Yokai Quirks.

On the surface, Akira seems like a carefree character, never serious and always smiling, with a weak spot for all kinds of sweets and cakes. Sometimes he eats whole cubes of sugar that which he always brings along with him. When need be, however, Akira can also be sinister and dangerous. Tsubasa says that Akira has not always been the way he is now. Before losing his eye and for a short while after, he was a bitter and angry person, never smiling. However, through the kindness of Tsubasa he began to open up. It seems though that some of the emotions from his past still linger as he becomes slightly depressed when he is reminded of it. He has sworn absolute loyalty to Tsubasa; promising not to die until he has fulfilled the Intention's wish.
He is very protective of Tsubasa. While he once said that he sees Tsubasa as a daughter, as Tsubasa matured with Akira looking after her, Rose sees it more as a brother-sister relationship. He still looks after and worries about Tsubasa throughout the series although she is old enough to do things on her own. There are times when he does not mention where he is going or the condition of his health to Tsubasa as to not worry her. Tsubasa especially gets mad when he does this; calling him Mister One-man-show. Akira did not immediately tell Tsubasa about his blindness, fearing it would worry her and make her cry. In the end he finally does tell her and finds Tsubasa's reaction to be positive and supportive. At this point, Akira starts to realize that Tsubasa is no longer a young girl, but a growing woman.
As the heir to the Mamushi family estate, he must act very formal and responsible when dealing with family matters. As a result, Akira has another side of his personality that contrasts with his normal self. When he assumes this role, he becomes almost completely expressionless and very serious. He is seen to be very straightforward and always goes directly to the topic, avoiding any other conversation that might interrupt.
He resents the rigid tengu caste system, as even though he works hard, he is unable to advance in rank due to being a crow tengu. Pchelkina writes that he is generally the sort of youkai one does not wish to oppose, but if one somehow manages to cross him, his strength is practically unrivaled.

Tengu: Akira is a Tengu (lit. "heavenly dog"). Tengu are associated with the ascetic practice known as Shugendō, and they are usually depicted in the distinctive garb of its followers, the yamabushi.
Tengu are protective, if still dangerous, spirits of the mountains and forests, they are mischievous and sometimes malicious, with a propensity for playing pranks on humans. Although they disdain the proud and arrogant, they are often guilty of those same flaws.
Applications[]
- Aerial Adaptation: Akira is able to survive and adapt to extremely high or low air pressure (not becoming disoriented or deprived of the normal breathing capacity), and high wind friction; this is accompanied by an innate immunity to vertigo and fear of heights.
- Atmospheric Adaptation: Akira's lungs acclimatize and breathe in any gaseous mediums, whether hostile or deficient, his lungs also filter away non-gaseous substances such as dust, asbestos, etc. He can breathe toxic gases instead of oxygen and survive mountain, aerial, or terrene air deficiency, which are among the longest and most painful deaths the average human can suffer.
- Speed: While Tengu as a whole are known for their incredible speed that few can match, Akira prides himself of being "the fastest" in Mustafu, and has been referred to as such many times.
- Manipulating Wind: With this ability, Akira can cause wind of incredible strength whenever he pleases. Somehow, this also allows Akira to "listen" to the wind to collect rumors. His powers are among the top class in Mustafu, and not many can challenge him with a real chance of winning. However, he doesn't like fighting much, nor does he show off his power a lot. This seems to be a common characteristic among Tengu.

- Akira has the habit of appearing and disappearing out from underneath beds, or from within closets and pantries, however how he does this has never been explained.
