Genetic Alteration (遺伝子組み換え: Idenshi Kumikae) is the transformation quirk possessed by Xavier Takeyama,Tanya Takeyama, Kenma Takeyama, Darius Takeyama and certain members of the Suchuwāto Clan. Villains like Mira Takeyama and Himiko Toga temporarily wielded it, albeit through the use of their own quirks and/or scientific means.

Description[]

Genetic Alteration allows the user to transform into an entirely different entity, steal others genetics, or become stronger. It is a highly seeked out quirk and can be considered quite useful.

Usage[]

Xavier Takeyama[]

Xavier used Genetic Alteration to coat his body in the iron that lied in his system. He used it to create a suit, allowing him to mask his true identity to the public at all times.

Tanya Takeyama[]

Tanya's "prime" in power was at the age of 16. Because of this, Tanya used Genetic Alteration to place herself back in her "prime", keeping the appearance of a 16 year old girl, whilst being chronologically older. She accesses Goldeneye through Genetic Alteration.

Lucius Suchuwāto[]

Lucius uses Genetic Alteration to change his appearance, preserve his youth and give him access to transformations. He can use the quirks Gravity Magic, Time Magic and Battle Beast with his version of Genetic Alteration.

Kenma Takeyama[]

Kenma stabilized the aging in his body to become eternally youthful. He also used Genetic Alteration to have access to the Fairy quirk.

Darius Takeyama[]

Darius accesses a plethora of quirks via Genetic Alteration, and is undoubtedly its most profficeint (alive) user. He also gathers large amounts of energy through nature and villains he beats. After enough of this energy is collected, his normal body cannot withstand all of the power, so he "transforms" in order to become perfect-like versions of himself. He calls it his Vengeful Form. Darius is also known to use his quirk for quality of life purposes. For instance, on occasion he has been known to genetically extend his arm to grab objects or touch them.

Temporary Usage[]

Himiko Toga[]

For the brief time that she had access to Genetic Alteration, Himiko managed to use the quirks of her ancestors in order to win a fight against Kain Yamato.

Mira Takeyama[]

By obtaining Darius' cells when he was in captivity and when he was born (over a 24 hour period), Mira was able to pull traces of his quirk from it, which she placed into a capsule. During her final fight with Hinata, Mira used her Genetic Alteration capsule, giving her the power of Genetic Alteration for 20 minutes promoting her expulsion and incapacitation.

Applications[]

Genetic Alteration: The quirk allows the wielder to change (alter), their body as well as their own genetic code, without experiencing fatal drawbacks.
Ancestral Quirk Utilization: With Genetic Alteration, one can go back into their bloodline and use the quirks of their kin.
Gender Swap: The wielder can change the chromosomes in their body (momentarily), in order to achieve a temporary body of the opposite sex.
Body Transformation: Depending on the amount of genetics manipulated, one can undergo a bodily transformation which can change ones hair, eyes, skin, facial structure, and even teeth. With the transformation the user can achieve the abilities that they absorb.
Power Transference: With the quirk, one can transfer their own power to another, healing them and/or increasing their abilities.
Quirk Transference: If the user likes, they can transfer Genetic Alteration to another, albeit (usually), temporarily.
Absorption: The ability to absorb someone else's abilities in order to replicate and use them to their own advantage (this includes quirks, life and nature, natural abilities, and even things such as intelligence).

Powers[]

Regeneration: Those who wield Genetic Alteration have their body and cells regenerate exponentially faster than any typical human. Users of the quirk can heal from the most grievous of wounds.

Named Super Moves[]

	Sleep Touch (スリープタッチ, Putatchi Surī^?): Darius activates his quirk, before touching his intended target. When this happens, he uses Genetic Alteration to increase the natural melatonin levels in his target's body, forcing them asleep.
	Waking Touch (目覚めタッチ, Tatchi-Mezame^?): This move allows Darius to temporarily lower the melatonin levels in one's body, waking them from their slumber (or things such as unconsciousness).

Death Touch (デスタッチ Sutatchi Shi^?): Darius uses the absorption side of his quirk to suck the life of his opponent. Typically after this happens, his intended target's body starts to disintegrate and degrade, turning to ash.

Quirk Snatch (癖のスナッチ Kuse no Sunatchi^?): Darius steals the genetic cells of a someone or multiple people, absorbing their quirks in the process. This only lasts for a momentary time of five minutes, though the less quirks he absorbs, the more time he can use them.

Quirk Transference (癖のある転移 Kusenoaru Ten'i^?): By placing his hand on to the recipient, Darius can place his quirk into another temporarily. The amount of power one will gain from even having Genetic Alteration in their body momentarily, is easily enough to turn the tides of battle in an instant, and those afflicted with the power have all of their wounds and injuries healed by extension.

Reanimation (蘇生 Sosei^?): By restoring the cells, blood flow and oxygen in the human body the recipients "soul" will be "drawn" to their original physique, and will resurrect. Depending on how old the body is, preservation status, as well as a number of other possible scenarios, outcomes, and complications, the dead can be brought back imperfect. Another thing to take into consideration is that if the corpse isn't freshly dead, the revived will come back lifeless and callous, controllable by the wielder.

Demon Power (魔力 Maryoku^?): Darius channels almost all of his energy, becoming near-emotionless in the proccess. Purple and black waves of lightning flow around him. They are infused with his power. Darius calls the technique power of demon, and he can use it to do many things. He can regenerate himself with them, he can regenerate others, create shields with it, and even fully encase bodies in it. Koharu was revived using this ability.

Transformations[]

Transformations are accessed by users who manipulate their genes to a degree that give them monstrous power. During his training, Darius was able to develop a series of forms that allowed him to increase his power in battle.

Lycan Form[]

Lycan Form is the formal name that Darius calls "his" Werewolf quirk. After undergoing transformation Darius' body changes and he is able to partially transform into a humanoid, werewolf-like being.

Vengeful Form[]

Vengeful Form is the form that Darius transforms into as one of his final techniques. Upon being sent into the past, he is confined and forced to use the form for his duration of time there. Darius' Vengeful Form has become his second body, and form, capable of fending off against the mighty warriors of the past.

Weaknesses[]

Overexertion: Continued over usage of this quirk makes the user have a plethora of side effects which are heavily conditional to the thing in which they absorb, or the part of their body in which they alter. These side effects can include... dizziness, stomach pains, vomiting, contractions, temporary vision loss, temporary hearing loss, temporary loss of smell, eye pain, and even unconsciousness.
Time-Limit: There is a time limit on how long one can maintain a form of Genetic Alteration. After the time has finished, they de-form.
Diet: Usage of the quirk requires a good diet. If a user of Genetic Alteration doesn't keep a stable and nutrion-full diet, they won't be able use the quirk to its full ability or at all. For example, after eating too much candy, Tanya Takeyama lost her precision and a lot of her motor skills. Tanya's candy consumption made her vommit, which offset the effects. Futhermore, when Darius Takeyama survived in Hellscape, his physical body was starved for over sixty hours, leading to his inability to use his quirk. Saori Olympian stated that if he even attempted to use his quirk, his risk of dying would be increased by at least fifty percent.
Death: Continued use of the quirk without the necessary control or precautions will cause the user to have all of their genes split apart, resulting in the death of the user. When this happens the user will become weakened and will start to explode from within, killing them.

Limitations[]

Gene therapy could have negative results or erase powers.
People who are "Gene-less" are immune to the effects of gene alteration, as they have no genes.

Genetic Alteration Capsules[]

As a genetic-based quirk, Genetic Alteration is deeply engraved into every single one of its user's cells. Because of this, even a quirk destroying bullet will have a hard time, or not even work at all at taking it away. In the past, people have been known to take the cells of Genetic Alteration users, in order to gain the power for themselves. The most well recognised occurrence of this was when Mira Takeyama did it to her great nephew, Darius Takeyama. When Darius travelled to the future, he would later be captured by The New World Order. When in captivity, Mira (a member of The New World Order), stole her great nephew's blood throughout his capture, and obtained large amounts of it. She kept samples of it with her, and then when he manifested his quirk (at the age of three), she gathered more of his blood. Mira would later pull traces of his quirk from the blood (DNA), using it manufacture and fashion capsules of "temporary Genetic Alteration power". Each one allowed her to use the quirk for ten minutes, with a larger one being reserved for the most stickiest of situations, and if Mira was ever on the verge of death.
